The age-old saree is one attire that gets a major upgrade every now and then, and who other than our B-town ladies teach us the best on how to try new drapes and styles. Here are 5 ways to style your simple saree this season, just like your favorite B-towner:
Move over sequins, bring in the brocade and make your saree statement with glitzy zaris that shine through and make you stand out. Actress Kangana Ranaut is unapologetically stylish about what she wears. At the poster release of her upcoming ‘Manikarnika’, Kangana wore a bright yellow saree, which she paired with a pastel green blouse. Ranaut's kundan jewellery and minimal makeup scored full marks too.
Shilpa Shetty is the queen of experimental drapes and this one shoulder saree sans blouse with a fancy style drape is something to be inspired from. At the Dada Saheb Phalke Awards, the gorgeous Shilpa Shetty donned a metallic corset detail up-cycled Banarasi saree gown by designer Amit Aggarwal. Her one shoulder gown with a side train was styled with her signature hair and makeup and a pair of metallic sandals.
For a wedding party at the Ambanis, Deepika Padukone wore a white laser cut saree by Rohit Bal with a contrasting dull gold border and teamed it with an interesting high neck halter blouse. A pair of earrings by Mahesh Notandas and Johri by Amaze rings rounded her look out. For hair and makeup, she wore a deep lip and a center-parted low sleek bun.
During the promotional run up for Neerja, Ms Kapoor attended the National Bravery awards in a double dupatta drape, giving us all new inspiration to wear a saree. The pink and white saree designed by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla made for a gorgeous addition to Sonam Kapoor’s saree collection.
This trend is right off the ramp and has already found its way to the Indian weddings. Brides, take notes! Dia Mirza wore this unique Anamika Khanna attire and surely turned out to be a showstopper.
